Our purpose
Provide the board and community with:
Information, education, and hands-on opportunities to protect and improve our natural resources.
Increase the sustainability and resilience of our homes, businesses, and institutions.

No experience needed — just a willingness to help and get your hands a little dirty. Tasks include weeding, planting, watering, trimming, and keeping our shared spaces clean and welcoming.

What we're working on
Ryan Lake Park
- Work with the Minneapolis Park Board to add a canoe launch
- Enhance and maintain planted beds
- Seek grants for ecological shoreline restoration and site maintenance
Park District Two
- Advocate with the Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board on behalf of the neighborhood
- Build partnerships with nearby neighborhood boards on shared park issues
Enhancing available funding
- Research city, state, and federal grant funds to support environmental projects
Home energy savings
- Partner with the MN Commerce Department and U of M Extension as a Clean Energy Resource Team
- Spread the word on IRA rebates and tax credits for home energy upgrades
- Promote the city's Climate Legacy Initiative
44th / Penn / Osseo beautification
- Replant the seven planters at 44th & Penn each fall
- Seek new grant funding sources
Apple tree pruning
Every year, our Environmental Committee hosts a hands-on apple tree pruning workshop — teaching neighbors how to shape and care for fruit trees so they stay healthy and productive for years to come. Here's a look back at our 2026 event.
